2007 PBA Rookies Performance – Dec 07

Below are the game statistics of most of the rookies playing decent minutes so far. Stats are as of Dec. 5, 2007, & courtesy of the http://www.pba-online.net website:

JC Intal
– 10 g – 16.2 mpg – 5.9 ppg – (5/29) 17.2% 3-pt FG – (22/74) 29.7% 2-pt FG – 3 rpg – 1.7 apg
– Absolutely miserable 3-pt. shooting, equally miserable 2-pt. shooting. Still can’t get his offense on track in the big league. Known for his offense in college, a major bust so far in the big league. Some rebounding & assists, not what is expected from a scorer.

Ronjay Buenafe
– 10 g – 26.9 mpg – 12.5 ppg – (15/59) 25.4% 3-pt FG – (36/104) 34.6% 2-pt FG – 3 rpg – 2.1 apg
– Miserable 3-pt. shooting, also miserable 2-pt. shooting. Scoring have gone down lately. Averaging in double figures in scoring only because he gets major minutes & lots of attempts on the basket. Some rebounding & assists.

Joe Devance
– 10 g – 27.1 mpg – 12.9 ppg – (16/54) 29.6% 3-pt FG – (46/129) 35.7% 2-pt FG – 5.5 rpg – 0.8 apg
– Miserable 3-pt. shooting, bad 2-pt. shooting. Bad overall percentages off the floor indicates he may not be as good as everybody hoped he would be. Also averaging in double figures only because of major minutes & lots of attempts from the floor. Decent rebounding numbers.

Ryan Reyes
– 10 g – 19.7 mpg – 7.3 ppg – (3/19) 15.8% 3-pt FG – (24/68) 35.3% 2-pt FG – 4.4 rpg – 2.5 apg
– Miserable 3-pt. shooting, bad 2-pt. shooting. Erratic on offense, showed flashes of brilliance, but only flashes, no consistency so far. Surprisingly decent rebounding & assist numbers, a utility guy.

Doug Kramer
– 10 g – 18.3 mpg – 5.5 ppg – (0/0) 0% 3-pt FG – (23/45) 51.1% 2-pt FG – 6.6 rpg – 0.3 apg
– Consistent rebounder, the best among all the rookies so far. Very good 2-pt. shooting. Overall not too bad, but not too good either. Decent role player w/ his numbers. Still can’t create his own shots even if his life depended on it.

Sam Eman
– 11 g – 12.64 mpg – 5.45 ppg – (0/0) 0% 3-pt FG – (20/35) 57.1% 2-pt FG – 3.82 rpg – 0.27 apg
– Very good 2-pt. percentages from the floor. Also showed flashes of brilliance, but also needs more consistency on offense. Rebounding a disappointment for his height, indicating he is more of an offensive Center than anything else.

JR Quinahan
– 11 g – 14.09 mpg – 4.73 ppg – (1/1) 100% 3-pt FG – (20/44) 45.5% 2-pt FG – 4.55 rpg – 0.82 apg
– Great 3-pt. shooting, but took only one shot & made it. Average 2-pt. shooting. Decent rebounding numbers. Overall not too bad a performance thus far, but not too good either.

Ken Bono
– 11 g – 9.91 mpg – 3.91 ppg – (5/9) 55.6% 3-pt FG – (17/44) 38.6% 2-pt FG – 2.91 rpg – 0.45 apg
– Good 3-pt. shooting, but didn’t shoot that many. Miserable 2-pt. shooting for a big man who is supposed to take his shots closer to the basket. The Fat Boy still can’t get his offense on track in the big league. Rebounding no better than the other shorter rookies.

Ryan Arana
– 11 g – 21.73 mpg – 7.27 ppg – (6/24) 25% 3-pt FG – (31/74) 41.9% 2-pt FG – 3.27 rpg – 1 apg
